- 1 pound beef round steak, cut into 3/4 inch cubes
- 1/2 tsp. paprika
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 1/2 cups sliced mushrooms
- 3/4 cup low-sodium beef broth
- 1 small bay leaf
- 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp. all-purpose white flour
- 1 8-ounce carton nonfat dairy sour cream
- 1 8-ounce package medium noodles (4 1/2 cups dry noodles)
Season the meat with the paprika, pepper and garlic powder. ( You may place seasonings and meat in a plastic bag and then shake the bag to coat the meat with the seasonings) In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add 3 tbsp water, the meat and onion. Cook and stir until the meat is browned on all sides. Add the mushrooms, beef broth, bay leaf and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 to 1 1/4 hours or until meat is tender. Remove and discard the bay leaf. In a small bowl, stir together the flour and sour cream. Add the sour cream mixture to the meat mixture in the skillet. Cook and stir over medium heat until the sauce is thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir for 1 minute more. Serve over hot cooked noodles.Yield: 6 servings
